Line Design University is a supporter of the National Line Design Certification Program that is scheduled to be available during 2015. This certification program will pertain to all line design technicians in the rural electric cooperative, municipal and investor owned utility environments. This program is being developed by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, www.NICET.org NICET was founded in 1961 and is a non-profit division of the National Society of Professional Engineer, www.NSPE.org NICET uses certification industry standards to develop and score certification programs. Subject Matter Experts, along with professional engineers and line design technicians follow a structured process to develop examination questions and determine passing scores. Examinations will be computer based and administered at Pearson Testing Centers which are located in most mid-sized cities. The NICET certification program is developed, administered and scored in the same manner as the professional engineering licensure process.
